This agreement marks a significant step toward sustainable peace, equitable resource sharing, and collaborative management of the community center. By fostering dialogue and cooperation, the Kismayu Women Association continues to empower local communities, strengthen leadership, and build a brighter future for all.

The consultative meeting brought together representatives from the Madina and Midnimo communities, the District Peace Committee, and other stakeholders to discuss and agree on a framework for the sustainable management of the center. The meeting was characterized by open dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to peace.


Key outcomes of the meeting included:


Establishment of a Joint Center Management Committee (JCMC): Comprising representatives from both communities, the JCMC will oversee the implementation of the agreement, manage the center’s access schedule, and mediate any disputes.


Equitable Access and Resource Sharing: The agreement ensures that both communities have fair and transparent access to the center’s resources, with schedules adapted to meet community needs and seasonal demands.


Sustainability Measures: A joint maintenance fund will be established, supported by contributions from both communities, to ensure the center’s upkeep. Additionally, awareness campaigns and capacity-building sessions will promote sustainable resource use and conflict resolution.


Commitment to Peace: Both communities pledged to uphold the principles of the agreement, fostering peaceful coexistence and collaboration.


On April 2, 2025, a historic consultative meeting was held at Madina Hotel in Kismayo, Jubbaland, marking a significant step toward sustainable peace and community development. The meeting, facilitated by the Kismayu Women Association (KWA) and funded by ACTED and SADO, UN Peacebuilding aimed to develop an operational and maintenance model for the Midnimo Women Center. This initiative is part of a broader effort to resolve conflicts between the Madina and Midnimo communities over the management and leadership of the community center, while fostering collaboration and equitable resource sharing.


The meeting culminated in the signing of a Peace Agreement between the Madina and Midnimo groups, a testament to the power of dialogue and mediation in resolving long-standing disputes. This agreement, supported by the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) Somalia, is a beacon of hope for sustainable peace and community development in Kismayo.
